Our orchestra is a friendly ensemble of around 40 musicians, gathering in St Albans on Monday evenings during term time. We cater for players with a range of abilities and no auditions are required, although an ability to sight-read music would be beneficial. Subscriptions are paid termly.
We work through several pieces each term but, unlike many orchestras, we do not give formal concerts. This allows our members to explore substantial works from the classical repertoire without the pressure of public performance. We enjoy accommodating members who might wish to perform solos, such as movements from concertos, with us.
At the end of each term, we host an informal play-through of the pieces we have rehearsed, inviting friends and family along to enjoy the music and to socialise.
